Tanakit Thai Handmade Straw Woven Natural Water Hyacinth Small Bag.
This bag was painstakingly crafted by our amazing team in Thailand, and it takes our skilled raffia bag artisans in Thailand anywhere from fifteen to twenty-four hours to hand weave each woven bag by hand. Each of our straw bags and accessories is woven by hand by our experienced artisans with your best self in mind. Each member of our artistic team is passionate about their work.
We use sustainable materials like water hyacinth and Krajood seagrass to make our designer bags. Your new, exquisitely handcrafted bag begins with a plant that has been dried and turned into straw by skilled Thai artisans.
The natural wicker straw, water sedges, and Krajood seagrass are all hand-dyed and hand-woven by Thai artisans. Traditional indigenous weaving methods are then used to incorporate these materials.
Weaving has a long history in both the north and south of Thailand, but unfortunately, most weavers in Thailand cannot make a living from their work on straw bags. The Thai Bag Co. is aiming to make a significant impact on rural life in Thailand. We hope to be of assistance in maintaining the culture of woven bag making.
Invasive plant species, such as water hyacinth and seagrass, have caused a number of issues in Thailand's canals and waterways. Overgrown vegetation blocks the water channel, increasing the chance of flooding in the region. Weavers in a Thai village have come up with a new technique for making attractive "water hyacinth" bags from the potentially poisonous water hyacinth plant.
Each hand-woven bag is woven by hand by artisans in Thailand using techniques that have been passed down through the ages.
Shipping methods for our wicker bags include DHL International Worldwide airfreight courier services or Thailand Post EMS (Tracking Service). Direct shipping from Thailand to any country in the world typically takes between five and ten days.
